For our second episode of the season, we welcome clarinettist Tess Waller and pianist Shing Chun (Johnson) Ng to the studio. Tess and Johnson will perform live to air programmes including works by Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky, and Grainger before receiving feedback from the mentors. Tess Waller is an Australian Clarinettist currently based in Antwerp, Belgium. She has completed her Bachelor of Music with Honours at The Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, her CPES with Richard Rimbert at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux Jacques Thibaud, France and begin her study at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles for her Masters of Music with Ronald Van Spaendonck, Nathalie Lefevre and Christian Gossart. She has performed as Principal Clarinet of the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles Symphony Orchestra, the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Bochum Symphony Orchestra Academy, Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatoire de Bordeaux and Australian Youth Orchestra. Tess has also performed chamber music throughout Australia and Europe with her most recent endeavour being the creation of 'Duo Tellurium' alongside Melbourne saxophonist Terence Liu.

Shing Chun (Johnson) Ng was born in Hong Kong, and began his piano journey at age 6, before migrating to Australia in 2018. He currently studies piano with renowned piano pedagogue Glenn Riddle. In 2023 Johnson was awarded Distinction for LMusA Piano. Johnson enjoys every performing opportunity, participating in many competitions in both China and Australia and won numerous first prizes. As a keen orchestral and chamber musician, Johnson also studies Organ, Harpsichord and French horn. Johnson is often invited to perform at a variety of school events. He is also an avid concert goer and especially enjoy going to hear the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra perform. Throughout the continuous dialogues with the beautiful notes and melodies, Johnson develops solid technical demands and endeavours exploring the diverse colour of music. Johnson likes to listen to Classical and Romantic period music. Johnson wishes to be a professional performer in the future.
