ITALY OFFERS WOMEN 1,000 EUROS A MONTH IF THEY REJECT ABORTION
Italy faces a crisis. Its declining birth rates that have fallen far below what is needed to sustain a population and an economy. So its government has found a solution. Financial incentives to encourage women to not have abortions. Banning abortion and protecting unborn children would make more sense. But Italy's solution could help women, save babies and help the European nation's population at the same time.
The leader in the Senate of Forza Italia (a minor party in the Meloni's government coalition) wants to support women who decide not to end their pregnancy with 1,000 euros a month during the first 5 years of life of the child. The "Maternity Income Bill" would only apply to women who earn less than 15,000 euros a year. There were nearly twice as many deaths as births in Italy last year, and the average number of children per woman has declined to only 1.2, far below the 2.1 necessary for a population to survive. The United States is not far behind. The American birth rate declined by nearly 25% between 2008 and 2022, to only about 1.6 per woman today.
Beginning in 2019, Hungary has managed to reverse its declining birth rate [Source: LifeNews.com]
WOMAN ON THE RUN FOR HER LIFE AFTER BECOMING A CHRISTIAN IN YEMEN
A former Muslim woman from Yemen is on the run for her life after she became a Christian, according to a Back to Jerusalem (BTJ) missionary. Arwa (not her real name) was born and raised in a strict Islamic family in Yemen, but as she got older, she felt there was something wrong with the basic teachings of the Quran. The Quran is not in chronological order, it contradicts itself, and it has several incomplete statements, making it confusing. There was one person in the Quran, however, who was mentioned more than ninety times, making her curious – Jesus. A missionary led her to Christ. Now, her family wants her dead.
Arwa fled from her home and is currently in hiding. Arwa's father has reported her to the government and if they find her, she will be executed for apostasy. "Her brother has been calling her, telling her to come home. He has promised to protect her, but she knows he is lying," reported one BTJ missionary. [Source: Back to Jerusalem Mission]
NORTH KOREA EXECUTES 30 MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS
Around 30 middle school students were marched out in front of a firing squad and executed according to a recent report. The children were punished for the capital crime of watching South Korean dramas. South Korea has one of the largest churches in the world and their society has prospered greatly from their freedom of religion and spread of Christianity. Many TV shows in South Korea can inadvertently show this strong connection with Christianity, which is one of the many reasons why entertainment from South Korea is strictly forbidden in North Korea. Public executions for watching South Korean TV is not uncommon in North Korea. In 2022, a UN Secretary-General report reported on a North Korean man who was publicly executed by firing squad after his neighbor saw him distributing digital content from South Korea.
North Korea vehemently denies carrying out executions, but many escapees tell stories of eyewitness accounts. Please pray for Christians in North Korea that they will be kept safe while finding ways to help them grow in the Christian faith. [Source: Back to jerusalem Mission]
THOUSANDS OF IRANIANS ARE COMING TO FAITH IN JESUS
Even though Iran is one of the most dangerous places on earth to be a Christian, thousands of Iranians are coming to faith in Jesus. Christianity is growing faster in Iran than anywhere else in the world, according to the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). Mike Ansari runs a Christian satellite channel in Iran called Mohabat TV. He says there is an incredible revival happening in this country of unrest, in what has been called a pandemic of hope.
The revival has not come without persecution, as many Christians have been arrested and imprisoned, charged with acting against national security by promoting Zionist Christianity.[Source: CBN Christian World News]
PRO-LIFE PROFESSOR, STRUGGLING TO KEEP HER JOB AT ADELAIDE UNIVERSITY
Family First, a pro-life political party, believes Australians should be free to be pro-life, even if they work for a university. It is therefore standing with pro-life warrior Dr Joanna Howe who is being persecuted by anti-life activists trying to have her sacked from her job at Adelaide University. Vexatious activists have bombarded the university, abusing its complaints process
Dr Howe uses her spare time to produce meticulously researched and highly engaging pro-life content which she posts on her personal social media accounts and website. She also exercises her academic freedom to research and publish on the subject of human rights for unborn babies. Instead of engaging her arguments, intolerant activists are trying to destroy the career of the this Oxford-educated professional mother of five by bombarding her employer with vexatious complaints about her work, in an attempt to force Dr Howe from her job. This has caused the university to launch at least six investigations into her academic conduct since November 2019.
While being cleared of any breach of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, she has nonetheless, been pressured into attending a "research integrity course", something she rightly refuses to do as it is tantamount to Soviet-style "re-education". Things have gotten so bad for Professor Howe that she has launched action in the Fair Work Commission to stop Adelaide University bullying her at work. Professor Howe is seeking specific orders requiring the university to exercise powers under its academic freedom policy to dismiss bad-faith complaints made against her and withdraw the imposition of corrective -actions. Her primary area of research is the intersection of labour law and migration law – a field in which she is a leading international scholar – but in 2017 she began research on abortion and, in 2021, the regulation of prostitution.
