Psalm 23:5 says, "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies."
I think many think rather smugly they will chow down while their enemies starve in front of them.
But what if this is really a test of our understanding of Love?
Jesus said, "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which spitefully use you, and persecute you."
Matthew 5:44
When there were a group of hungry people listening to Jesus' teaching, His Disciples wanted to send them away, so they could get food.
Jesus said, "You feed them."
Matthew 14:16
He did not say, "Only feed the ones you like." He wanted all fed.
So when we are at that table prepared for us, what should we do about the enemies nearby?
If we act as Jesus would, we make room at the table and we feed them. They may be "the least of these."
"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me."
Matthew 25:40
