Come now and let us reason together, saith the LORD, though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isaiah 1:18
Too many people playing hide and seek with the gospel. They want to come as they are, stay as they came, and believe that is ok. We cannot go against God's character and win. When Jesus walked the Earth his message was love, deliverance, and repentance, and he demonstrated that message in different ways. Jesus socialized with sinners not to become like them, but for them to become like him. For them to see the light and worship his Father in Heaven. For them to repent, be baptized, and to sin no more (John 8:11).
When I look around in Christendom I see people playing hopscotch with God. They want to fit into the world and preach on the side. They want to look or be presented as normal (according to worldly standards) but still maintain their faith. It cannot work, and never will. If that is how we want to live, then we can be sure of one thing, that without repentance we will have a first-class ticket to hell.
We have shifted our focus from the cross to focusing on the world's attractions. Our eyes have become lofty (Psalm 131) and pride has taken over. Yes, we have answered the call to come as we are, but it does not stop there. Our next step is our willingness to change. to take on the nature of Christ Jesus. To truly become his child. Peter knew about that change too, he followed Christ but was not converted (Matthew 16) until he was! That moment made all the difference for Peter! We can experience that same change by the grace and mercy of God.
If you are a born-again believer, saved and sanctified by grace, that is who you are. A little Jesus today, a little lie, or a little casino tomorrow. No! Come as you are and be willing to be converted and set free.
Let us pray: Lord, please forgive me for my sin today. Thank you, for your word. We are in trouble. Some of us have been misled even by church leaders to believe a lie. Help us to spend more time in your word, so we can learn your will and your way. Help us Lord to truly be converted in the name of Christ Jesus. Amen.
Come As You Are For Change!
