The COVID lockdowns and government-imposed mandates for "vaccines," useless masks and idiotic "social distancing" measures, all of which had zero to do with medicine or safety, was more than a mistake. It was a government evil, an example of what happens when you give pathetic bureaucrats a small taste of power.
It's the same energy that gave us the awesomeness of Nazi Germany, Stalin's Soviet Union, and the Chinese Communist Party. It's something that should never happen in this country, but it did. And it did because Trump set it all in motion.
For all his talk about "federalism" and "freedom," Trump ushered in the lockdowns with his horrific and evil "15 days to slow the spread." He supported every evil measure by every power-hungry governor and fought every measure by every common-sense governor to put an end to this idiocy.
In the end, governors like Georgia's Kemp and Florida's DeSantis were 100% right, while Trump and his puppet Anthony Fauci were 100% wrong.
And for all his bluster and BS, the lockdowns started under Trump, they were at their worst under Trump. They were ongoing when Trump was President. They ended under Biden. That's not to give Biden credit for supporting freedom - he certainly didn't do that - but things did not get better until Trump was gone and a unified conservative opposition to Biden could break the stranglehold.
So fast forward to now. We have a chance to set things right, to say "f-you" to the lockdowns, to Fauci, to the power-hungry statists that destroyed our lives. Instead the voters gave Dear Leader Trump a big ol' smooch on the fanny and sent him on his way to his Dementia Smackdown with Grampa Badfinger.
And you know what? I don't even care about the politics. If 2020 showed us anything it's that it doesn't matter one bit who is President. This whole "most important election ever" BS is just that, BS. If anything this is the least important election of my lifetime. Because whoever wins, Communist China is calling the shots, just like they did in 2020. It doesn't matter who is President.
But fighting the lockdowns and tyranny matters to me. A lot. As far as I'm concerned, DeSantis isn't a candidate as much as a statement, a big "F-You" to the medical establishment and the narrative writers. So I'll be keeping my "Make America Florida" stickers and my DeSantis coffee mug. It was never really about him or about politics, it was about me standing for what I believe in. And I believe both parties are a bunch of sniveling simps controlled by fascist assholes.
So fuck both parties and all the Boomers who vote for this crap.
As for me, I'm not getting involved in any politics this cycle. I couldn't care less who wins at this point. I might vote for Kennedy, but only so I can once again make my ballot an extension of my middle finger rather than pretending anything good at all is going to come from this farce of a process.
I'll hold onto my bumper stickers and mug. Because for me "Make America Florida" is my version of "Make Seven Up Yours." I hope DeSantis keeps fighting the good fight and doesn't leave the arena. But I have no hope the voters will ever stop being incredibly stupid or that politics will ever be anything but a complete joke that it is now.
So Make America Florida. Sideways, with a toaster.
