TM9689 Wetland Woods - October 30x60 oil on panel Crisp blue skies, leaves falling and dancing down to the water's surface - it's autumn in New England. Water levels are still too high to walk the circuit path around the pond, but there's still more than enough beauty to enjoy. I love the tangled edges, where overhanging branches tease the water and catch some of the leaves. Details below. After the first layer was dry, I glazed color onto the whole panel, then began refining and adding to this base with paint brush and pencil. I love interweaving painting and pencil work, so both work side-by-side in conversation. Later work included use of brayers to loosen things up, and then more scraping, drawing, and "braying." Periodic layers of glaze helped to bring the color to life. | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
