We went to Santa Cruz last week to visit my sister in-law for a few days. Then we went on to Santa Rosa to visit friends for a few more. Then the drive home on Friday took 11.5 hours. That was longer in the car and any day on our cross country tour in June. You guessed it, no exercise (save a few steps around town), and no diet. Too much good food at both places. It was good for my emotional health to have new people to talk to and hearing their problems made my seem more normal. It's good to feel normal.
This week I am back at it, counting calories, swimming, doing my circuit training. Other things are back to "normal" too. Rick and the neighbor continue to fight with the HOA and management company. The neighbor next door still has construction going on. He was supposed to move in last week. Poor man had to put his stuff in the garage and some in the house. The moving company would not be flexible on his dates. He also had to find another temporary place to stay. The people who owned the condo he was in came home from their trip so he had to vacate. Had I been here I might have offered him our spare bedroom, but I really don't know him that well. He is younger and not too hard on the eyes so there is that prospect. I may be borrowing some sugar once he is settled. LOL.
It is good to be back home and working on my healthy lifestyle again. It was also good to work on my mental health by visiting friends and family. All of these things are necessary to make a lasting change.
Now that the house has elected a speaker and witnesses are flipping, I can ignore CNN and MSNBC. This has been a stress factor for sure. The new speaker is anti-gay, which doesn't make me happy, but then no Republican would make me happy. Time to move on. I can't do much until election time. so I need to relax and not be so involved. It just makes my blood pressure go up.
