The following is one of the five dreams I had this past Friday night. In the dream I saw Pat and I standing in front of a man who I knew was an angel. He looked at us and started to describe something to us.
He said "Breakfast nourishes the soul for the day. Lunch gives energy into the body to keep going. Dinner is for finishing the day with thanksgiving for the provisions of the meals." I got to thinking about what he said to us. When we put it into perspective with God it says even more.
Just like breakfast we need to start the day with God. Spending time with Him nourishes us, and like breakfast, which they say is the most important meal of the day. We need to put Him first every morning before anything else.
Then you have lunch, it gives you what you need to get through the day. By feeding on His word, it energizes you. It's never ending, you can read a verse today and read the same tomorrow and it can say two different things to you. That's because each day is different, what you needed from it yesterday may not be what you need from it today.
We then have the last thing, dinner. Like breakfast, spending time with God, we need to end the day with God. Thanking Him for all He has done for us throughout our day. That can consist of many things like food, His protection, His blessings, His love, His mercy, His forgiveness, His healing, His grace or the many other things.
I start my day with Him, He gets the first part and the last part. As soon as I wake up, I say good morning to Him. When I go to bed the last thing I do is say goodnight to Him. I thank Him for all He did, for the things seen and unseen.
Just like food, which we need to keep our body going, we also need God and His word. Food feeds us and so does His word. I pray you give Him the first part of your day and the last part of your day. When you do it because you want to do it, not because you feel you have to do it, amazing things can happen.
"Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matthew 6:33).
