(1) Choosing not to run this morning, I walked a brisk 2 1/2 miles to the Palouse Mall, where I had errands to do before taking the bus back. I've gotten so used to the miles at 2500ft altitude, I wonder how much easier it will be to walk and run at sea level, once I'm able to get down for an event. Maybe I'll win first place in my age group? Grateful to still be fit, active, and eager to excel.
(2) A list of errands was accumulated while awaiting my check, which mercifully was posted late last night, due to the three-day weekend. I've already gotten about half of them done, and exercise to boot. Thankful for a monthly fixed income, on which to build.
(3) Great food at the Center, brought in by Suzy every Friday, an excellent cook. This time it was a casserole of noodles, hamburger meat and corn, with a kinda stroganoff feel to it. Always thankful for the home-cooked meal every Friday, at the price that's right.
(4) Tessa's older sister Shanise joined the team this morning, adding her contralto to the Same World Project. We now have six singers in four different States--very exciting.
(5) Paid my rent this morning, right on the dot. I continue to be grateful for a positive relationship with my landlords of the past six years. At a time when the guilt-ridden little boy in me thought he deserved God's punishment, I was instead gifted with a greater blessing. Times are not always easy, and moods are not always good. But there are always things to be thankful for--and for that valuable truth, I am grateful.
"Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude." ― Ralph Waldo Emerson
