(1) Of the Kids who were on my team during the pandemic, four of them are now returning to record "The Very Same World." Cooper joined up last night, so now we have Cooper, Cody, Ian and Karlie. All have agreed to show up on July 9th and record the singing over this track. Also my student Tessa will be singing a part remotely from Los Angeles. This is all very exciting!
(2) Got a gig doing the door for a show last night at the local cafe, and made some needed money. I may have a similar such gig tonight, depending on how I feel when I come back from the dentist.
(3) Ran into a guy at the gig at whom I got mad about a year ago. He asked me if I still hated him. I said "Naw I got over it!" And we hugged each other. Life in a small town can sometimes be full of grace.
(4) Grateful for the Baldwin grand piano at my church. I don't have an iPhone anymore, but it's actually made practicing the songs for my upcoming album Talisman more enjoyable. When I had the phone, I was uptight about making sure everything got recorded, in case it would turn out to be a "take." This was stressful. It's a lot less stressful to practice knowing I am not under the gun.
(5) When it comes time to record the tunes, I can borrow a phone or other recording device, or even use my computer once I obtain a decent microphone. Life without a smartphone continues to be a blessing. Though people think I'm crazy, I'm better off without it. In fact, a lot of people are better off without me having a phone hanging off of me at all times. I can smile and say hello to them, and enjoy the sunshine. Thank God for the beginnings of a simpler and quieter life.
