As we near the end of our second season for 2022, The Talent brings you a double-piano episode with performances from Dillon Chan and Yenny Jap. They will play piano works by composers including J.S.Bach, Mozart, Schumann and Vine. Dean Sky-Lucas will be joined by guest mentor Elyane Laussade. Pianist Dillon Chan
Dillon Chan is a 9-year-old Melbourne-born pianist studying with Glenn Riddle. He is currently a Year 5 student at Wesley College and is currently preparing for his LMusA piano exam. Dillon is also a pupil of the Melbourne Conservatorium Young Artists Academy (MCYAA).
Dillon has achieved 27 first-place and numerous other piano awards in Australia. At the age of 6, Dillon was one of two winners of the 2019 AMEB and Kawai National 'Win A Piano' Competition, and also a winner at the 7th ASEAN International Chopin Piano Competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In 2021, Dillon won many placings in open age piano, solo, duet and concerto competitions. He also received special awards, such as the Sadie Brown Memorial Award (Ringwood Eisteddfod) and the Grace Ross Memorial Prize (La Trobe Valley Eisteddfod).
In 2022, Dillon was awarded the overall winner of the 2022 Steinway Youth Piano Competition Australia. He also represented Australia in the 29th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth in Poland where he was awarded 1st place.
Recently, Dillon has been selected as one of the finalists in the Preston Symphony Youth Concerto Competition, and made his orchestra debut, playing the first movement of Chopin Piano Concerto No.2 in F Minor.
Off the piano bench, Dillon plays violin too. He loves sports and is representing his school in swimming and cross-country running. He is also an intermediate chess player, as well as a bursary winner in the state science talent search. Dillon has been donating many of his prizes and prize money to music education in the community. He hopes to be a concert pianist or an anaesthetist like his father.

F.Liszt: Grandes Études de Paganini No. 4 "Arpeggio"
G.Bacewicz: Sonata No. 2 for Piano: III. Toccata
Pianist Yenny Jap
Yenny Jap started studying piano at the age of five. She has been studying with Mr Scott Lam since 2010 and has been awarded the AMusA (Distinction), LMusA piano performance diplomas and she is currently completing the Master of Music, Piano Performance degree at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Sydney. Yenny has been the recipient of prizes for many piano eisteddfods in New South Wales including Sydney Eisteddfod, St George Instrumental Eisteddfod and Wollongong Eisteddfod. Most recently she won the first prizes in 19th Century Piano and Russian Piano in Sydney Eisteddfod. She has participated in masterclass festivals in Australia and Indonesia conducted by professors John Perry and Jahja Ling. She also had masterclasses with Dr Paul Rickard-Ford, Dr Kirill Monorosi, Miss Margaret Hair, Mr Quang Hong Luu.
Yenny hopes to establish herself in the Australian music scene in the future and is interested in exploring new music while also performing standard classical repertoire.
