I had a very strong dream not long after I gave my heart to the Lord. I can still see it as if I just had the dream last night. Now that I think about it, that dream was the first one I had like that. My life changed in a big way after that.
I was suddenly in a field and over to my right by a fence was a big tree. I started walking toward the tree, which was about 20ft away from the wooden fence, it looked somewhat like what's in the picture below this.
Suddenly I was in the tree, toward the top of it, sitting on a limb. The next thing I knew I felt someone there with me. When I turned to look, there was Jesus, sitting on the limb with me. We sat there talking, watching people go over the fence. We watched as some people tried to get over the fence but gave up. We also watched as some stopped and sat on top of the fence. Even though I was new at being a Christian I understood what He was showing me and saying.
Some people when they come to the Lord, may be all in but in no time, they lost interest, so they walked away. (At least they were NOT sitting on the fence.)
Then you have those who sat on the fence. They maybe believe in God but to completely give their life to Him or to walk away, well, that's not something they want to do. Once they get to the fence, they don't go over it, nor do they walk away, they just sit on the fence. Thinking well, if I stay here that way I don't have anything to worry about.
Then you have those who got over the fence. Although they went through trials in life, they keep the Lord close and never looked back. They want what God wants. They let go of themselves and surrendered their life to Him. Once over the fence they ran toward God. (At least they were Not sitting on the fence)
That's what the dream was about, Jesus was telling me, while we were sitting there on the tree limb talking and watching people. We either are with Him or against Him. Trying to play it safe, by staying lukewarm, well, that just is not going to work with God.
In Revelation 3:15 God tells us "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot."
Matthew 13:19-23 "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom [regarding salvation] and does not understand and grasp it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road. The one on whom seed was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and at once welcomes it with joy; yet he has no [substantial] root in himself, but is only temporary, and when pressure or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he stumbles and falls away [abandoning the One who is the source of salvation]. And the one on whom seed was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the worries and distractions of the world and the deceitfulness [the superficial pleasures and delight] of riches choke the word, and it yields no fruit. And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands and grasps it; he indeed bears fruit and yields, some a hundred times [as much as was sown], some sixty [times as much], and some thirty."
Once I gave my heart to God I not only climb over the fence, once over, I ran as far away from the fence as possible and have never looked back. I want all He has for me and want to get as close to Him as possible. There is no turning back, no slowing down, no riding the fence. I made up my mind to go God's way the rest of my life. Have you?
